Discovery 3 HDC,Transmission Fault, Handbrake fault with *FIX*. Car had intermittent fault as seen in the video where it would drop the suspension and be stuck in 3rd gear showing 'F' fault on
If you go back to park or turn off the vehicle and then select Drive it will start in 1st as expected. It acts almost as if the transmission is not getting the signal to shift. Also, the air suspension is staying at the lowest setting. I have a very basic OBDll reader and was able to pull U0001 & U0101.
Tranny oil change like another 100 km in the tank. Since I changed the transmission oil and filter a month ago, (127,000 km ~80,000 miles), it is like my gasoline tank is a hundred kilometres bigger - maybe 200 for paved highway. 2005 gasoline 4.4l V8 LR3 HSE. I used to get about 16.5 litres / 100 km around town; now it is more like 15.
SUSPENSION WILL LOWER.” The Suspension, Transmission and DSC warning lights all came on in Amber. This happened +/- 2km from my office. I pulled over and switched vehicle off for a few seconds and restarted. Message and lights off. The owner’s handbook has one similar message, although wording is different: “TRANSMISSON FAULT.
Here are the codes that Auto Zone's machine came up with. A lot more detail than I've gotten elsewhere. P1871. Definition: Transmission mechanical transfer case 4x4 switch circuit failure. P1873. Definition: Automatic transaxle concerns. P0600. Definition: Loss of serial communication link.
I've been driving mine with mentioned fault for over a year now. If you've checked out the battery then its probably the diff-lock motor. According to Walter the diff-lock works, but it is not calibrated..apparently a software exercise to fix for +-R700 at dealers. 2005 Discovery III V6S. 2013/04/30, 04:01 PM #9.
Worst case is the solenoid has failed, but given the experience with the D3/D4 would point to a bad connection somewhere. Could be a leaking mechatronic sleeve allowing fluid into the connector, a fluid change and check of the connector would be where I'd start. Then new solenoids and valve body rebuild.
Unlike Land Rover owners that are expecting a failure at some point *Yes round $2500 for a new HPFP supplied/installed. (assuming thats the fault). *As with any engine fault, ignore the transmission faults until the engine is sorted, generally the trans fault will go away once the engine is running correct again.
Gear selector is intermitently sticking in drive or reverse. It’s been in to LR as under warranty. They said there are no fault codes and it didn’t do it for them so they can’t do anything at this time. They’ve done a software update and told me to monitor it.
Remove the cup holder and the drip tray underneath. Unplug the the connector from the back of the park brake switch. Prise out the rubber cup in front of the park brake switch with a trim tool or teaspoon, undo the torx fastener, and slide the switch forwards up and out. I pulled the 30 amp Park Brake fuse before I did it.

1 Location Norway PLEASE HELP ME!!!!! Hello there. I’ve got an gear box problem on my LR3 2006 model: when I start driving from 0km/h, the car moves VERY slowly until it reaches about 2500 rPm, then it kicks inn and starts to drive normally. It happened once before- about 7months ago.
Sep 23, 2013. #10. First thing you need to do is service the transmission , Change the fluid and filter and clean the pan. They need to have that done around 50,000 miles or so. And did you check fluid level, low fluid will put it in limp mod is a safety feature.
On Monday the vehicle would not start, a ton of faults came up and all manner of lights, including permanent hazards, which would flash even without the key in ignition, and: Transmission fault - limited gears available. Transmission fault - traction reduced. HDC fault - system not available. Engine system fault.
